Note this does generally increase efficiency (so you may not want it for that reason if you want more of a challenge), but it also makes doing things in first person a lot less annoying which is primarily why I made it. If you think you may end up doing a lot in first person you may want to consider Speedwalking as it make everyone walk briskly. Less Useless Herders may be particularly useful as, I suspect, doing a game for Youtube a bit distracting and will help keep your livestock stafe while doing other things (you still want very close hunters and to keep at least inital populations away from forests.) Until I reach much larger populations I usually don't do much with food in fields and just use them for flax, grass, oats, and, if I'm wanting sheep, wheat for pies so I can mount expeditions in search of the livestock. If you are worried about food balance in your early games set up gatherer's hut and switch folks over to fishing or hunting in winter and you'll be in great shape. Distance kills in this game, so keep barns centrally located near fields and houses both, at least until you get a stable up and running and can use it to move things around, but even then making little centers that are basically self sustaining is never going to hurt. There is also a brilliant flat world map.It's actually quite possible to have a good solid game without mods.Įxpand slowly, especially at first don't add more than a house a year and then only if you are doing ok with food and generally try to avoid having less half the population adult. It's selling point is the first person adventure. I love this game especially starting new maps now with these mods. It's the key to have all your villagers employed so they don't take a vacated by death job on the other side of a map. That is the one major flaw combined with the constant eating Patten that's makes them walk back and forth from the work area. Planning and placement is ultimate if you can beat the auto assigned villagers when someone dies. Then any mods that effect the vanilla ( MindIllusion adds some of these mods to the vanilla) that crashes the game at the next major update. No achievement until 2000 ( King) Anyone who has reached a 1000 agrees 2000 is near impossible and no one has ever achieved it that I know of, with very good planning and some specific mods you get over a 1000. The game does get buggy / laggy around 600 or even go near a 1000 in population, mine basically crashed everyone died so have been there and that kind of killed it for me. When in first person put speed on x 1 so they move slower you achieve more. The larger map is the main cause of crashes when population grows. I managed to get to 21 of 29 ( 73 % ) Using the large map. Please post back if something goes wrong. I was using a large map and my sytem is an i5 3.4 GHz GTX nvidea 680 windows 7 x 64 prof. remaining only 250, now it wont even load. I made it to 1017 then all my villagers started to die of hypthermia.
